Safes
How many keys do I get with a safe?

Price of key duplication depends basically on the type of the key. Cutting a safe key costs roughly 6 000 - 12 000 Forint. Our colleagues will inform you of the cost based on the type of safe key in advance.
Why is a certificate important?
If the safe has a certificate, it means that it meets certain requirements. Certified safes are always produced according to the quality level belonging to the certificate. Certification is made by testing institutes independent of the manufacturer, thus the safe will be inspected. If the safe receives the certificate and rating, it means that it meets the given protection level. Safes without certification are not accepted by the insurance companies.
What does the indicated AHICO value limit in HUF mean?
A specific AHICO value limit, e.g. of 3 million Forint means, that this amount is the maximum the insurance company covers of the valuables stored in the safe. If an incident occurs, this is the maximum amount of compensation they will pay out. Do not forget that the insurance company must know of the valuables stored in the safe. It is clever to have your insurance company issue a statement in this matter too.
Why is it necessary to anchor a safe?
If it is about a small safe, thieves often use the method of not cracking the safe on the spot, but taking it in a closed state with them. The best defense against this is anchoring the safe properly. In addition, if the safe is not properly fixed, the insurance company refuses to pay any compensation.
Where and how should I anchor a safe?

All safes lighter than 1000 kg empty weight, have to be anchored in an outlying space, to the bearing structure of the building, directly to concrete and suitable to resist a proper tensile force. Wall safes must be anchored in a main wall of suitable thickness, free-standing safes in concrete floor and / or in a wall of suitable thickness.

For a professional anchoring, please take the installation guide received with the safe, the provisions of AHICO and the manufacturer's installation instructions into consideration.

What shall I do when the batteries are flat and I cannot open the safe?

Electronic safes or safe locks operate mainly with batteries. The battery holder may be placed on either the front or the back side of the safe door. If it is on the front side, dead batteries can easily be replaced.

If the battery holder is inside the safe, on the back side of the safe door, the situation is different.
Most electronic safes have an emergency opening option of some kind. Emergency opening can be mechanical or electronic. In case of a mechanical solution, the safe is to be opened by an emergency opening key, usually after removing a cover. Electronic emergency opening is performed with an external battery supply.

What does connecting to an intruder alarm system (IAS) mean?
Connecting a safe to an alarm system means that sensors will be placed inside the safe which transmit electronic signals to the alarm control center. The elements will be electronically connected and in a case of an attack they send an alarm signal to the central, so the alarm goes off.
An alarm can be made more effective by having the alarm system send the alarm to a patrol service.
Certificate of the safe is invalid. Am I insured?
If the safe had a valid certificate when you bought it, then yes, you are.
If you have kept the invoice and the certificate of that time, you can also easily prove this to the insurance company.
Fire resistant safes
What does it mean if a safe is fire resistant?
Fire resistant safes are made with a special filling material. They resist the flames for a certain period. The valuables, documents and storage media inside the safe will not be damaged for this period because the temperature does not rise above a certain level.
Why do I need a fire resistant safe?

Damage caused by fire can be large scale. You can protect important and irreplaceable documents, contracts and personal files from destruction if you are using a fire resistant safe.

Think about how much loss you would suffer if your home or office with all of the valuables inside burnt. Even if your insurance reimburses for damage of property, loss of time, theoretical value and other indirect losses are indefensible. Decide how much to spend on prevention!

How long can the fire resistant period be?
Usual fire resistant periods last 30-60-90-120 minutes. These periods are generally enough for firefighters to arrive and intervene.
Why are storage media not to be kept in a fire resistant document cabinet?

Thermal sensitivity of paper and electronic storage media are different. A CD for example will be damaged on a much lower temperature than a sheet of paper. Structure of fire resistant safes varies depending on whether they were manufactured for the protection of paper based or electronic data carriers.

If you are storing a CD, DVD or flash drive in a fire resistant document safe, without locking them up separately, you are risking damage to the data on the media. For the storage of electronic data carriers use a fire resistant data safe.

Can fire resistant safes also be anchored?

This depends on the type of the safe. Smaller fire resistant safes often do not have anchoring points because the fire resistance weakening effect of the fixing hole cannot be eliminated. In case of bigger safes this problem can be handled as a result of the construction. You will find information on the availability of fixing holes in the product descriptions.
